In a very short space of time, Californian wine has grown from a very niche product, to an industry giant. This growth has all been very much at the discounted bottom end of the market. But aside from the sweet, branded pink stuff, the American wine industry has much to be proud of. Rich, indulgently brambly Zinfandel, supple, rounded Pinot Noirs and world famous Bordeaux style blends.
Absurdly heavy, stupidly strong, dark hearted zinfandel from one of Sonomas top producers. A rich bundle of highly concentrated blackberry, that has the oomph to stand alongside the most complex of dishes. Great as a digestif alongside blue cheese or even chocolate.
